Fresh Atlantic crab wasn't the only "crunch" being discussed in Baltimore's scenic Inner Harbor last week, as pioneers and innovators in the field of molecular diagnostics converged on Charm City for the G2 MDx NEXT conference, a 3-day event centered around reimbursement challenges facing healthcare today.
Healthcare as a whole is in a sea of turmoil, but few have borne the brunt of these challenges like those in the diagnostic laboratory. We found it interesting - comical, even - how the folks in the lab, working to provide the information responsible for over 70% of all clinical decisions, have once again found themselves at the bottom of the healthcare totem pole.
